During the Lenten and Paschal season, our community did not forget that one of the Christian virtues is sacrifice. Parishioners and friends of our parish gathered a large number of items to send to Ukraine’s low income families and those that find themselves in difficult circumstances.

In March and April, we collected: clothing and shoes for children and adults; new and used toys; personal hygiene products (soap, shampoo, diapers for babies and adults, bedding sheets, and blankets).

All of these items were sorted out and sent to the following addresses:

  1. Chernivtsi (2 boxes) – Volunteer Martha Levchenko, Foundation Director of the Future of Ukraine charity fund, which cares for single mothers, families with children who live below poverty level, and parents of children with disabilities.
  2. Mariupol (front-line zone) – The diocese of the UOC-KP, Bishop Serhiy is the guardian of the House of Mercy in which people of retirement age need extra-care, as well as low-income families of the front zone.
  3.       Kropivnitsky Kirovograd region – Through the volunteer efforts of Oksana Chervonya, items are delivered to the rehabilitation center for children deprived of parental care.
  4.       Odessa – Father Dmitry Krasnobayev, manages the charity mission organization “Odyhitrya“, which cares for prisoners of war.

As soon as we sent all of these items, our parishioners immediately supplied another set of necessities for the next shipment. We have a request for all of our charitable donators – during the warmer seasons, we ask that you not bring food, in particular, sweets, as they will melt. After all, our packages travel to Ukraine by ship, thanks to the company, Dnipro.
