We are honored to introduce Mr. Victor Rud, son of Holodomor survivors and an esteemed Holodomor scholar. Mr. Rud has been researching the Holodomor for half a century. In the 1980s, he worked closely with James Mace, a researcher for Professor Robert Conquest’s groundbreaking book on the Holodomor, “Harvest of Sorrow.” Mr. Rud was also pivotal in securing the national airing of the award-winning documentary, “Harvest of Despair,” on William F. Buckley’s television program, “Firing Line.”
Mr. Rud lectures and writes on issues related to the United States, Ukraine, and Russia. He has addressed various audiences, including the United Nations, West Point, the Foreign Service Institute at the State Department, and the American University Kyiv. His analysis and commentary have been featured in academic and policy journals, newspaper op-eds, and other publications.
A graduate of Harvard College and Duke University Law School, Mr. Rud has practiced law for over forty years and currently chairs the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Ukrainian-American Bar Association. He is also the Senior Advisor to the Centre for Eastern European Democracy.
Without further ado, please welcome Mr. Rud, who will speak on “Yesterday’s Holodomor and Today’s Global Security.”
