On the 15th of January we celebrated the first winter holiday – Saint Nicholas visited our Holy Ascension Church community. Children have been waiting for him and have prepared their greetings. They were singing, dancing and telling poems. But the most important – they have been studying his lifetime and were answering questions to get gifts.

Small devils and offensive “bad woman Yavdoha” were trying to spoil our holiday. But since our children were good Sunday School students, they knew the prayers not to let dark powers close to themselves. When Saint Nicholas came, he gave a lesson to small devils and of course gave out his gifts to children.

We express our big gratitude to everybody who participated in the holiday: to parents for upbringing their children together with our Ukrainian church; to children for their efforts; to actors for their performance (our special thanks to Marina Gavrylchuk); to our music director who has been teaching singing to our children – Ivanna Hul; to the narrator of our holiday concert – Oksana Semyrozum; to our scenarist – Natalia Holchuk; to Chrystyna Posiko for taking pictures and organizing an art master class for children.

Our special thanks to all women for the delicious dishes cooked for our holiday table, since there can be no Ukrainian holiday without delicious food!
