On Sundays, after the Liturgy is over, we have our Sunday school lessons for our little Christians. We give them the knowledge about Christ’s sermon, study stories from the Bible together. To make the lessons more interesting – we have interesting master classes dedicated to church holidays hold.

Before the holiday of Candlemas (Presentation of Christ in the Temple) our pupils and their parents traditionally were decorating candles. And then on the very holiday they were consecrated by the priest.

Before the beginning of the Lent we had a lesson called “preparation for the Lent” (in Ukrainian it is “Zapusta na pist”) hold. We talked about fasting, self-control, what children should restrain themselves from. And the most interesting part of the lesson was home-baking.

Traditionally before the Lent, Ukrainians were cooking dumplings (varenyky), pies and even pancakes. But our pupils led by Oksana Han’ were baking delicious croissants and baskets. Afterwards they treated their parents and everybody who wanted with their baked masterpieces. The children had a lot of fun. As we could see little ones love to help cooking.

Also our youngest parishioners have the opportunity to attend an art class and develop their talents under the guidance of Chrystyna Posiko.

For the time being, due to the quarantine for all schools, we are also forced to suspend our Sunday school lessons. For your kids not to think we are talking about God only in church during this two-week period of separation, your home religious upbringing is of great importance now. Pray with them before the bed-time, give them your own good example. Talk to them about God. Read the Bible for children. And as you prepare for the Confession sacrament before Easter, explain to children that it is something you are doing not only now. For them not to believe that the Confession is something that happens only once and no more should be done. You are the biggest example for your own children!
